Our story
A design-led team, not a builder with a drawing board
OPB was set up to do things differently: to bring design and build together under one roof, so homeowners get a genuine open-plan solution without having to manage an architect, a quantity surveyor and a contractor who have never met.
Today that is a leadership-led business rather than one person with a list of subcontractors. A design team who draw it, a commercial team who price it, an operations team who build it — all in the same company, all accountable for the same result. Thirty years of building across Wirral and Chester sits behind the way they work.
We are proud to be TrustMark accredited and members of the Federation of Master Builders — independent marks of the quality and standards we hold ourselves to on every project.

Our history
From a Heswall building yard to a design-led company
OPB’s roots are in traditional trade: bricklaying, extensions, structural alterations and hard landscaping across Wirral through the 1990s, with a spell building bespoke new homes in Jersey along the way.
What changed was the order of the work. Rather than build what somebody else had drawn, OPB brought the design in-house, so the thinking happens first and the construction simply delivers it. That shift is what turned a building firm into a design & build company — and it is why the business today is run by teams rather than by one person on site.

You are not hiring one builder and hoping the rest turn up. Every OPB project is run by three teams who work in the same business and answer for the same result.
The design team
Takes the first conversation, surveys the house and develops the layout. They stay involved through the build, so the intent behind every detail survives onto site.
The commercial team
Prices the finished design in detail, agrees the scope and protects the budget. They are the reason our costs hold rather than drift.
The operations team
Runs the site day to day, sequencing our long-trusted trades so each is ready for the next — and keeping the house liveable while we work.
